My Shepherd

I would hope that my God has a funny face
Of course a Mr. Yuck also has its place.
I would like my God to have humor and be of joy
It matters not as a girl or just a boy.
I would like my God to be of a colorful dress
To be a giver of good dreams and happiness.
My God to be of another face or color
Matters not whether a girl or a fella.
To be warm and gentle and to enfold
My God to be exciting and also bold.
To have a God that knows how to be more than one
Matters not whether it has a daughter or a son.
My God to believe, have faith and love just little me
A God that is alive and not a mystery.
That everyone's God likes to celebrate life and also share
A God that loves and gives and for each of us does care.
My God loves children, the family and every race
It matters not nation, culture or color of face.
I would pray that my God is as yours
A belief in me and I in it; as a true and just cause.
That everyone's God is also mine
To sit at the banquet table and share a common time.
I probably left out more than I thought or wrote
Remember the shepherd also takes care of; the sheep, the lamb, and the goat.
