They said they’ll keep watching me, no matter how far I stray

They said they’ll keep watching me and try as I might, I’ll never get away.

They broke my spirit

They broke my heart

They took away everything I had

They wiped away my smile in one swift stroke

They left me broken and sad.

My soul was crippled

My spirit diminished

There was no fight left in me.

Then a tiny glimmer of hope rose from somewhere within

And I decided this was no longer to be.

I healed my soul

I nourished my spirit

And decided there’ll have to be a new sun in the sky.

When once again they said they’ll be watching me

I said “I’ll meet your eye!”.
