She lay there…
Ravished, dead and torn
She lay there…
Pricked, and cut by a thorn.
She lay there with eyes open wide
Still dreading the deadly beast,
Helpless, pained and ravaged
A food for savage feast.
She lay there, her plea unheard by fate
Her warm tears still hurrying down…
Softly trying to heal her wounds
Before they turn from red to brown
She lay there when the demon fled
Mercilessly bitten by his nasty lust…
Her wrist broken, her veins smashed
Used, then thrown off in the dust.
Fourteen years have passed since then
The monster breathes, still he lives!
Seems as if everything’s normal
Guess, this is what ‘civilization’ gives.
Human rights!---am I right?
Saves him from the justice rope
Human rights for an animal!!!
Where do we, the humans, grope?
Kill him---now! And let the world watch
As he walks to death, let us laugh as we hear him cry…
Let his cry wash away the poor girl’s anguish
Kill him please, or, let humanity die.

(Written on the terrible fate of Hetal Parekh, a
fourteen-year-old girl who was killed and raped on 6th March, 1990 in Kolkata.
The rapist still lives and there are some
who are fighting for him. But does he deserve to live even for a single second
more?
I don’t think I need to be an intellectual to answer this; being humane is
enough I guess.)
