If I Might

My very life has been a fault
I've been shattered after His assault.
It seems that the God that stays within
my soul says every time I draw a breath in
"your suffering is my pleasure
and I like it beyond measure
To cause you pain. And it is my benefit.
The loss of your love is my profit."
He said it was a blessing in disguise,
and stole the laughter from my eyes.
"Though you cry now, you won't, tomorrow,
All the nights that were filled with sorrow
Will not exist then. And I would too find true love
He said he'd send me signs from his abode above.
Patiently I waited on for as long as it took,
for the moment when you'd give me one loving look.
"I am in love" you said. My heart began to throb.
When you said you loved her I just concealed my sob.
The only dream I had was to be loved by you,
So while you run after her, I must pursue.

And everyone knows
I am in love. It just shows.
I've paid for you with tears
At last your heart hears
the wails of mine.
Boy, does this feel divine!
To love you is to be part of you
and now that I'm part of you too
My life is complete. So is my soul.
You've made my life whole.
There's no more reason to weep,
so I lay my head down to sleep.

I wrote this long ago hoping hopelessly
that you'd one day realize, and love me.
But God wasn't too fair to me nor were you too kind,
and in Love's rat race I got left far behind.
You loved again, I'd always known you would.
Didn't know you wouldn't love me even if you could.
If I could just forget about you it'd all be so easy,
I'd be so much happier too, but this is not to be.
Tossing the shards of my broken heart I dream of paradise,
of erasing painful memories of your love-letter eyes.
This road leads nowhere, this is where our journey ends
There's nothing to dream of now. You've broken my heart again.
Here is the very last I'll breathe, these words I here write
Being the last too. Let me speak of my love once again, if I might.
