HALO THAT FIT

Set out to prove to myself

You no longer could me hurt

With almost robotic resolve

My feelings asleep and inert

The correct words were used

Gracious smiles were in place

Detachedly I looked and saw

As if it had been a terminal case

And then how easy it all was

To not feel, but simply just be

Spend an evening of laughter

Full of mirth and curtsey

Have crossed a threshold new

Though the ache at times does rise

For it had been the only time I had

Found a halo that fit me for size…
