THE
LEAVES AND THE FLOWERS
Outside I walk in nature's wild
and watch the leaves fall from the trees
and feel the breeze move cool and mild.
Outside I walk in nature's wild.
The leaves and I, we dance beguiled
and move in magic through the breeze.
Outside I walk in nature's wild
and watch the leaves fall from the trees.
I pick a leaf to see its face
away from flowers dressed in blues.
In silence I admire its grace.
I pick a leaf to see its face .
The green of spring I see no trace
but color streams in bluish hues.
I pick a leaf to see its face
away from flowers dressed in blues.
I watch the flowers now and then
from where I sit on fallen leaves.
Above the tree there sings a wren.
I watch the flowers now and then
and dread gray winds blow in the glen ,
and dread the beasts, the flower thieves.
I watch the flowers now and then
from where I sit on fallen leaves .
The Autumn leaves drift here and there;
they dance and dance , a bonny bride ,
to meet her groom , this meadow here.
The Autumn leaves drift here and there;
plus comes another fellow here
who rushes like the winds and tides .
The Autumn leaves drift here and there;
they dance and dance , a bonny bride .
But leaves are happy to be leaves
to outshine flowers , they refrain .
They never beef , they never heave .
But leaves are happy to be leaves
with eyes they watch the flowers grieve
and wither in the winds and rain .
But leaves are happy to be leaves
To outshine flowers , they refrain .
