Life in the balance scales…
Halved and placed, one
Neatly packaged and wrapped
In paper brown and sedate
Tied with a string of sanity
The other half awry and untidy
All disheveled and wild
Throbbing with a passion
That pulsates alive
Hands of Conditioning
Morality,
Principles, Duty,
Values, hold the scales high
How many lucky ones
Get a balance that stays---
Equal… neither tilting to a side
Nor sliding into fires wild
Far and few beyond I say
Some to sanity surrender
And some to untamed emotions raw
While life looks on with
Jeers or quietly applauds…
