Power

Power unto a nation, religion or a person tends to corrupt
As it feeds upon itself and seldom gives the power up
It makes no difference the who as the young are sacrificed to lose
People in charge of a power position seldom have to chose.

Power gathers together to acknowledge the power is there
Seldom to expand the definition to include the word share
Power has an allegiance and a compact with evil to overcome
The most assiduous and cruel are when they become as one.

Power usually comes from a seat
And from a ruler who stands on two feet
Sometimes but not too often a Queen will do
But these are rare and only by a few.

It has been the male who has had the power to rule
Sometimes a history of goodness but more times cruel
More often than not
Power is formed at all levels and earnestly sought.

Power once attained is seldom given back
To do so would imply the giver does lack
Power is like a sponge to gather and expand
That any denial leads into forceful demands.

Power like evil will destroy itself by eating its own seed
A burnt offering to be made of its discarded weed.
