PASSING TIME

If passing time is linear
    in habit and design,
Where would it go when it was done,
    this never ending line?
With no beginning and no end,
could such a thing be so?
Some theorize and hypothesize
But
Do any of them know?

Perhaps we might examine some
    small facts of interest
And state a theory of our own
    that we bring to exist.

Nothing in nature appears straight,
the earth, the sky, the land.
Eggs are round for a reason
    that chickens understand.

Perhaps time is a dimension,
it has a length you know,
But without thickness or an end,
    such distance I can't show.
Days and hours, weeks and months
    all seem to finally end,
But then, there’s just more of them
    to count up once again.

As planets are circular
    upon their traveled course
And made of matter, gas and stuff
all bound up by their force,
So galaxies go ‘round and ‘round
    in bigger circles yet.
A universe or two I think
must be the same, I bet.

Our universe still expands
    but slows day by day
And in time, of unknown measure,
    shall retrace it’s way.
Then once retreated to it’s start
    it may explode again
And as it seems in logic,
    exist without an end.

Or do you believe, as do I.
that there are more then three
Measurements to things we know
    and everything we see?
Each has a length and width and height,
this we may take as true
But should they not be measured in
    linear time too?

The length of time that it exist
    is a measurement as well
For how could it exist at all
    without some time to tell?
Perhaps it’s just an element
    of nature in it’s ways,
Engulfing all of creation
to keep it where it stays.

But

Is it circular like the moon
    or linear like rays?
I’ll think it out when I have time
    and answer that someday.
