NOW I LAY ME DOWN TO SLEEP

Now I lay me down to sleep
In hope no evil now shall creep
Into my dreams which I might fear.
Guardian Angel, hold me near.

I pray the lord my soul to keep
And hope that I’ll not make him weep
By some stray thing I might yet do.
Dear Angel, I depend on you.

If I should die before I wake,
Sweet angel please, for my sake,
Go before me on the road
To smooth the way that I have sowed.

I pray the lord my soul to take.
Not just for my own good’s sake But as the Lord might grant to me,
At last my angel, there to see.
