Tonight
There's rain beating
against my window
There are grey clouds
covering the sky
There's thunder and
lightning outside
And misery will be my
companion tonight
I will huddle in bed and
try dreaming again
I will try reading books
and living in them
But there's rain beating

And misery won't leave me
for a while
I will try thinking of
wondrous places
I will try remembering
happier times

And misery is my only
companion tonight
I keep hearing those
broken promises
I keep hearing laughter
that has fled
