Mid Winter

It's winter time, the nights are long,
hardly ever do I hear, a bird, sending forth it's song
The skies are dull, and grey,
it seems to rain, nearly every day
But now that the winter solstice is past,
the sun is creeping back at last
In a few more weeks it will be spring,
lambs will be in the fields,
frolicking, and doing their thing
Suddenly plants will bloom, and burst into life,
birds will mate, after choosing a wife
So natures cycle continues on,
thanks to the life giving properties of the sun
