Lessons From A Weed

I went out in the yard today

Searching for much-needed sun,

While I was there, I noticed

Invasion of ‘the weed’ had begun.

Those little things were pushing

Their miserable heads up through

The driveway made of tar, no less!

So eager for their spring debut.

Then I started comparing them

To humans… now, don’t laugh!

Just stop and listen to what I say

On those little weed’s behalf.

When we sometimes think we’re abused,

And life seems to keep us down,

Think of those delicate little weeds, that

Struggle their way through hard ground.

We get stepped on, and when cut down,

Dejectedly, we wallow in woe!

But that tenacious little weed,

Just continues to grow and grow.

We get overwhelmed with people

Pulling us this way and that,

When relocating in many directions,

We don’t know where we’re at!

The weed is tugged and pulled, until

Roots and all, out they will be!

But wherever that weed is thrown,

It soon reappears, eventually.

So when we feel abused, or even

Trampled…tugged from all sides,

Remember that determined little weed

And the visual lesson it provides.
