I feel a misfit in
today’s world
I still cling to
values, morality
Around me notions
are changing in a whirl
I am nonplussed-
can barely hold to sanity
The lofty ideals of
romanticism
Are fast on their
way out
Crude vulgarity,
unfazed brazenness
Wholesome ugliness-
unashamedly abound
What was hitherto
a shameful profession,
Is openly
commissioned to lure spectators
Petty politics
without hesitation
Puts cultural stamp
on vulgar courtesans
Is this the
culture, the civilization we boast?
Shouldn’t leaders
think beyond sticks and tridents?
Floods, famines,
hunger and unemployment
Tragedies no longer
alarm -provide only amusement.
Perhaps age is
creeping on
I fail to customize
to changing wind
If this vast
democracy is thriving as they claim
Like a speck of
dust I should better be gone with the wind
