FURTHER YOU GO

Doubts beset this troubled mind
And know not what to think
What say you now to me this time?
In turbulent waters sink
Questions rise and fall away
And arise to ask once more
Did you not say the very things?
To another not so long ago

How long was long and when did you?
First drift into this self same fault
Did you keep the words you speak?
Hidden in an unseen vault
And gave the key to who it was
Who caught your fancy then?
And now the key in my hands rest
And know not you'll forget me when

But let it be, for answers slip
And fall into the disquiet here
And more the night disturbed it is
With questions and scalding tears
Don't talk for now just hold this heart
And listen to really hear
The racing beats will to you tell
Why it trembles when you are near

And yet, I know you will leave
For nothing has held you down
And I will neither stop your way
Nor in pity will I drown
But bid you god speed and tidings fair
When you choose to walk away
For the further you go away from me
The closer to me you stay
