CHAPTER 7

THE CHANGELING

"Carol June, Carol June!
Are you in your room?
Please answer me when I call."
"I'm in the kitchen
Watching and wishing
I could have a friend, even small."

"My garden of flowers
Has been glowing for hours
And I don't know what it could be.
It's a gentle blue light
That shows through the night
But that's just all I could see."

"Go to bed Carol June,
It will be ten o’clock soon.
You know your Daddy and I
Must get our sleep,
We've appointments to keep
And tomorrow your Daddy must fly."

Carol June went to bed
But could not still her head
From thoughts of flowers and lights.
She rose to peep
And silently creep
Back to her garden of sights.

Out her back door,
Across the patio floor
And the grass of the backyard green
With the light of the moon
To guide Carol June
To a magic and sweet flower scene.

There on the moss
On petals soft
A glowing blue apparition
Then beckoned the girl
With the dancing curl
Which she touched without hesitation.

The faint blue light
That pulsed in the night
Crept up the girl's small arm.
It crossed her face
With delicate lace
But caused the child no alarm.

Carol June in blue haze
seemed in a daze
And called to those near by.
"I live again
My dear, dear friends.
Rouge Noir's words were a lie."

Within this girl
With the bouncing curl
Now lives an angel God sends.
I thank you my mayor
For your touching prayer
And all of you my good friends.

Your hope was my test
For only the best
Can be angels of spirit and light.
For to guide a child
Takes an angel beguiled
By all that is good and right.

Your faith in me
Has set us all free.
Free from evil and doom.
I feel proud to say
I'm an angel today.
The angel who guards Carol June.

My wish has come true
But I'll not forget you
And I'll see you through the year.
Here in my heart
You'll always be part
Of all that I hold dear.

"Carol June, my dear,
Now that we're so near
My wishes for you are complete.
I'll help you with the world,
To be a good girl
And be truthful, honest and sweet."

ANGEL AND FRIEND

                Angel and friend
                Both now and then
                To help guide you to the light.
                You have a choice
                And your angel's voice
                Will always guide you to right.

                A small voice it's true/that whispers to you.
                Whispers when you're unsure.
                I’ll give you advice
                On how to be nice
                And how goodness can endure.

                Please listen close
                Your angel the most
                Though others may too advise
                And always be true
                As I am to you
                And always consider what's wise.

                I'll send you signs/to help you through
                times...
                Help you through times of pain.
                Just lean on me
                And soon you will see
                None of life is in vain.

                When all's said and done,
                You'll walk in the sun
                With me hand and hand.
                Where good people stay
                In a place far away
                That's known as the promised land.

"Now awake Carol June.
Return to your room.
Return to your bed without fear.
Just dream pretty dreams
With beautiful scenes
And rest easy, I'll always be near."
