SHE'S  GONE

Her earthly life is spent,

She came and she went.

It was a good life,

Using what she had,

Never went to school,

But could read and write.

And she could sing

from hymns to bhajans

And loved poetry too,

Reciting them at seventy.

Yes, she's gone

And she took all her suffering,

And pains and memories.

Never will I be able

to hold her hand

and stroke her silver hair

and see her smile-

because she's gone,

This time for good.

But I know one day

She will be back.
