I NEARLY LOST

I nearly lost all that ever belonged to me....

  Your gentle and caring ways,
  That rapturous laughter,
  That gait of wild abandon,
Your entire entity oozing out love just for me,

A thick dark dense cloud engulfed,
All that was so bright and colourful,
Left behind emblazoned with tears the clouded eyes,
Where sunshine once reigned now laughter cries,

Our happiness could not be built,
On the edifice of another's sorrows,
Our love could not be selfish,
It had to give way to worldly fiendish,

Laughter got strangulated by the sighs of sorrow,
The cosy nest of the lovers trembled with horror,
Two set of eyes looked forlornly at the morrow,
Without hope of appeasement of their unending sorrow,

Should they dig the graves of their own love and joy,
Giving peace and happiness for others to enjoy,
Or bask in the glory of their love so pure,
Be selfish and let all others suffer for sure,

Suddenly the dark clouds thinned and scattered,
The glory of the sun beams began to shatter,
The sorrows and dark thoughts of the two bound by love,
Hopes began to shine and high flew the dying dove,

Giving message loud and clear,
Love is so pious, so divine, so pure,
Its the blessing of the sages ,
The ultimate happiness for all ages,

A pergola of warmth, peace and joy,
A precursor of goodwill to deploy,
The message of solemnity and succour,
The two lovers looked at each other,

We have got the blessings of Almighty God,
Love can never be a sin nor a peril,
Never a perpetrator of crime or a devil,
It is harbinger of purity and salvation,

They haltingly moved and reached each other,
Their eyes locked and springs of love flowed,
The lovers melted in each others arms and glowed,
In the glory of being lost in each other's love forever.
