If only you had called me once,
I would have come to you.

If only you had asked for love,
I would have given you love.

If only you had touched me once
I would have blossomed under its spell.

If only you had given me a new world,
I would have seen it with your eyes.

If only you had asked me to stay,
I would have been with you now.

But you didn't,
And the moment was lost.

Oft when I ponder,
Over those days gone yonder,
I think maybe you were not for real,
Maybe you did not exist,
Maybe it was but one of those of dreams
That did burst at its very seams.

But I cannot explain the pain,
The battering hail and the rain!

And I wish it had all been a dream.
