PEACE WITH
A PRICE
The cities are not quite so
beautiful now
As destruction covers Israel’s
land,
But all that it lacks, tho'
easily forgotten
Is the touch of the Master’s
hand.
Though it’s called the land
that’s holy,
Such evil still exists in the
hearts of men,
Peace will come with a
staggering price
It’s the same way now as it
was back when,
At the time of Joshua, the sun
stood still,
As the Lord fought for Israel
that day;
He fought for His people as
from Egypt they fled,
Parting the sea and leading
the way.
He looks o’er his land, with
tears in His eyes
Knowing first hand of the hate
and it’s cost,
As He marched that day thru
narrowing streets
Bleeding and stumbling, as he
carried His cross.
As Easter arrives, their faith
is renewed
Since before God they did
solemnly swear:
The land they’ll rebuild, the
sons they’ll bury,
Until ‘peace in Jerusalem’:
their nightly prayer.
(Psalm 122:6)
