RAINDROPS

Raindrops trailing down the window,
Trickling onto the green lawn below,
Watching the rain fall,
Ignoring the growing distant phone call.

The world can wait for me,
While I sit here in my reverie,
In my little corner by the window pane,
Enjoying the annual monsoon rain.

Hearing the clap of thunder,
Brings back acute feelings of wonder,
Across the garden I could see,
A drenched squirrel shivering atop a tree.

In the house across, little children giggled,
As they soaked themselves in the rain,
Beneath their bare feet, earthworms wriggled,
Finding their escape in the monsoon drain.

Heaven’s tears fall gently down,
Washing away my weariness,
Ebbing away my sadness,
Peace and contentment was found,
Away from the bustling cities and train,
Right here in the gentle November rain.
