CONCRETE STAIRS

Concrete Stairs
Near dark alleys
Where we sat
And gave a scare

Shadowy colors
Under street lamps
As we played
With lips and hands

Dusty feet
And dirt on bodies
Falling down the steps
All blood and follies

Cries amidst the hour
Lying pain and suffering
Rumbling laughter
Downed in quiet moaning

Concrete Stairs
Up high we looked
To the darkened sky
The one that we shook

Climbing up the night
Touched our fingers as one
Under the face of stars
A kiss for those gone

In the ghostly twilight
Where we slew the moon
Devoured its naked light
Into our hearts and minds

Crawled back down
To our concrete stairs
Where we sat
In the chaos of despair
