Climb….
I lift my head up to smile, At the mountain that frowns down, At the hungry, starving masses, Too weak to climb, too cowardly to stand, Just strong enough to rob, Just cruel enough to hate and dare to call it love, A bog of human waste. I lift my head up to smile, At the path before me that I have not yet walked, And at the trail I have left behind. I wade through the muck of clawing, desperate hands, That try to steal my will to grow, To draw another dancing heart into despair, But that is alright, I have some love to spare. I lift my head up to smile, At the sun that smiles down, A cleansing warmth that washes me, And loving light shines through, Casting shadows of forgiveness, Over those who cling like grim death, To the echo of my laughter.
