WHO LOVED SO WELL (PART2)
A SAILOR'S WIFE

No plight in life

Of storm or strife

Could’ equal more

A loving chore

Then of a sailors wife.

Through thick and thin of seas tossed,

A loyal beacon never lost.

Guarding shores while wars are fought

And teaching kids what ‘should be taught.

The seas roll on through endless days

And into months but still she stays

On watch at home through lonely nights,

A stranger to her loves delights.

When lesser souls would cut and run,

Her duties clear have just begun.

A braver heart there’s never been

And never still will be again.

If some time the sea should tell

Her sailors gone, a warrior fell,

Her tears might drop onto that beach

For the love beyond her reach.

Spirits who have grown so close

On oceans bound by tidal coasts

Can never part for long my dear,

For this sweet girl will always hear

Her husband’s call on ocean’s breeze

And see his face in restless seas.

A love that never dies for true,

A love reserved for just a few.

Then one day when old and gray

While watching waves on gentle bays

She’ll join him there on ships of sleep,

Still faithful unto oceans deep.

Content in arms so well known

Both shall find a silent home,

Sailing oceans blue and green

On what had once been but a dream.

Of all the souls and mysteries

I’ve known across these seven seas

If some reward my God would pay,

For one wish only I would pray.

That when the end has come at last

And unfilled shadows heaven casts,

Remember she who never fell

And to the hosts of heaven tell

Bring home this girl who loved so well.
