“WHO”

MY MOM

It’s said , “Man works from sun to sun

But woman’s work is never done.”

On mother’s day especially,

  as children have their fun

We might reflect on who she is

and what she means to us

Then marvel that, upon her day,

  we make so little fuss.

Who held you in protective arms

  when you felt afraid?

Who washed your smelly little butt

when you were but a babe?

Who supported you in times of need,

  be you right or wrong?

Who chased the tigers from your dreams

  with her lilting song?

Who nursed you through each sickness

  and nestled by your side?

Who was the one true person,

  in whom you could confide?

Who cheered for you when times were good

and cried when you were sad?

Who made you take those darned lessons

for which you now are glade?

What female did you aggravate

  by jumping in the mud?

Who to this day corrects you

  when you dress like crud?

Whose gentile soul, one day a year,

might like a kiss or two?

Who would value more a phrase

to give her thanks and due?

Whose heart is always soft and warm

and full of love for you?

 MOM !
