I walked towards the door

With fear in my heart

I opened the door

And walked out on the street

Deep within I knew,

What was in store for me

I had made out from your trembling voice

You had something to tell me!

What would you say –

Was what would decide my future

As I walked towards the garden

Various fears and hopes I built up!

I saw you sitting on the bench

Where we used to meet almost everyday!

The way you presented yourself today

Was different in every way!

Today you seemed like a man waiting for his love

Today, I was sure, you would confess your love!

I stood there for sometime, behind the tree

Saw you till my heart was satisfied

For I knew, once I meet you,

My eyes would touch the ground!

I walked towards you

My heart beating twice for every step I took

You saw me coming and stared at me,

I will never forget that look!

I wanted you to say those three special words to me

But you just seemed to be testing me!

You spoke of the flowers, the trees

And the fountains

And yes, you also mentioned the mountains!

But your unspoken feelings

Just seemed to dissolve in your eyes!

It was time to go …

And I collected myself to leave

You held my hand …

I thought to say,

"Please do not leave!’

But you just said –

"When would we meet next?

I want to tell you something!"

Promising to meet soon, I left the place.

Before anything could happen,

It seemed to be over

You said so much, yet said nothing

Would this be so forever?
