She pretended to be gracious
When he said good bye,
She did not try to cling
Nor did she break down and cry.
She wanted nothing more from him
Than he was prepared to give
Though she knew that without him
She would not want to live.
Inspite of her muted silence
Their world echoes with her silent screams
As he had dangled love in front of her
Just to snatch away her dreams.
Once he had taken her hand in his
And promised never to let go
Yes, he had fanned this love flame
That burns within her, deep and slow.
He gave her a taste of what could be
Then left her yearning for more,
He showed her the face of true love
And then just shut the door.
But, she can't break these bonds,
Emotional ties that keep her down
Memories keep her imprisoned
And will hold her till she drowns.
