RATHER

I would be the sunflower rather than lotus
Better a common than a royal status
The sunflower is rather pretty than haughty
Its impishness appealing rather than daunting

Both are lovers but rather different
One turns gloomy, the other rather pleasant
Lovesick lotus is rather aggressive
Its penchant for aloofness rather expressive

The sunflower is cheery- rather cheeky
It follows the sun and tosses rather gracefully
The lotus closing with the insect inside is rather malicious
The sunflower lending color to a dreary garden is rather gracious

Love inspires us rather differently
Some become unhappy rather miserably
Others show signs to open up considerably
Faces of love vary rather interestingly

Perhaps we are motivated by destiny- rather than heart
Same stimulus arouses us in ways wide apart
It is our instinct that comes into focus
Our soul is bared in our ways of devotion.
