Jackie's Lines

What would such a pretty girl
answer if I should ask,
Why do you write so avidly,
your thoughts to widely cast?
I think that she would answer then
in truth of heart and mind
As I have written' here below,
I think are Jackie’s lines.

Here within these paper walls
I make a world my own
And paint the scenery as I choose
to match my words alone.
Some day these lines that I now write,
all the world shall read
And then those who know my thoughts
shall fill my writer's need.

People ask, why do I write
with such a fervent passion
And others ask, "How do you think
in such a precious fashion?"
I simply say, It is a gift
that God has given me
And I must follow on this road
that he has let me see.

And if by chance some soul might read
my words in distant years
To feel the power of my heart
or move to loving tears
Then I shall know I used my gift
as God would wish of me
And I would glow with happiness
throughout eternity.
