The
Goodbye of Nature !
To-morrow, when the sun's not up early
I'll think of those bare leafless trees
Desolate, in the cold wind and rain
Their branches, shiver in the cold breeze.
The dews still glisten in cold morning air;
But the grass, though once green and lush
Has turned yellowish, dry and crunchy
When evening comes silent and hush .
Even the butterflies are tired of fluttering around .
Together with the bees they say goodbye to the flowers
And make haste to sing their last even songs
About the moon, the wind and the showers.
At night, the hyenas scream at the moon
That slowly dawns behind the baren trees
Reflecting the naked boughs; without the leaves
To make a welcome dance for the evening breeze .
The animals have withdrawn into the forest.
The dark wood makes a lot of sounds to scare
Late wayfarers, from entering their eerie buxum .
Stillness, finally comes when wild life ceases their stare .
