GHOST SHIP

The waves that came, high as towers
Beat the ship for endless hours
And when at last the storm was done,
The evening shown a blood red sun.

Amber sails were torn to shreds
But where the sailors with their dreads?
The ship so racked before the swells
Left just the echo of the bells.

An eerie ring from time to time
Might truly be a ghostly sign
For here the sea had took it’s toll,
A human price it’s cherished goal.

Sprightly mermaids taunt and swim
In hope to see those sailor men
But only ghost may steer this ship
That travels in the ocean’s grip.

So there it sails into the sun
With the souls of men undone.
She’ll sail now and forever more
And never more come close to shore.
