THE CROW

Don't know whether you are a crow-basher
But I am a total supporter to the cause of crow
May its tribe grow!

It is very well for swans and peacocks to prance and preen
But the crow outsmarts them with a mind sharp and keen
It gives a damn to the niceties of better living
It is a survivor-resilient, adaptable and daring

Though ugly and raucous- it has carved a niche for itself in the folklore
Its rating so high-next to moon the toddler identifies it and nothing more
But our friendly neighborhood bird gets generally shooed away
While pigeons and hens are fed lovingly-it has to resort to snatch food away

Poor crow is a clear victim of apartheid
Though very useful-it is usually despised
Perhaps its woes escaped notices of U.Sof A -the great avenger
Though not in the league of eagles-it is commendable as a common scavenger

I'm sure they will give it the deserving upgrade
It will provide the most vital humanitarian aid
Done with butchery when ruthless hands don the kid-gloves again
Eagles will soar away in search of new prey-leaving the leftovers for the
crow to contain

The crow will certainly do its best
To clear up environment and wipe out pests
Hopefully someday it will be nominated for the prize Nobel
With it achieving respectability- scarecrows will get some other label.
