Being A Woman

Being a woman in the world of today
Is hard to be done than to say
All the way from girl to growing into a woman
A female has to go through a lot in life
She is someone's daughter, someone's wife!

In the male dominated world of today
Sometimes I feel helpless as a woman
Always being dominated makes my life grey

I am trying to lead a respectful life
But all efforts seems to go in vain
When I stand up against my own one's
Who are causing me pain.

It's not easy -
To struggle with one's own self
Stand up and protect one's self-respect
Especially when those in question
Are those who are meant to be there for your protection!

Being a woman has caused me more harm
As compared to the little good it has done to me
But still, I must admit that being a woman
Has made a human out of me!

Today, as I sit back and think
I feel that I can face the world
With my head straight on my shoulders
And I can look at people in their eyes
Because being a woman
I have always given my best
To bring happiness in someone else's lives

Though being a woman has always been tough
Though the path I am treading on has always been rough
Being a woman has given me strength to defend myself
And still, somehow,
I have succeeded in maintaining my self-respect!
