TWO LITTLE KIDS

Two little kids are looking up at me

My approval or my annoyance anxiously awaited

Their eager eyes, their body language

Looking up at my godlike shape

I am their hero, their judge, and their master

My smile would elicit a happy response

My frown would chill their spine

My outstretched arms would make them run to me

How innocent their minds to put me on this mantle

These two little kids are unaware

That not them it is me who is insecure

It is I who needs the outstretched arms

It is my maturity, my ambitions, and my fears

It is my age, my experiences, and my failures and wins

That makes me timid, scared, running for cover

It is indeed I that needs approval from them

Their attention, their indifference anxiously awaited

Two little kids should be looking down at me
