Should friends just be friends?

Some people think that we should never amend

Of what and who we can hold onto in our hands

Even though that means not taking that chance

To see whether mutual affections may be there for once

Some think to express your feelings truly is unwise

For it may ruin the beauty of friendship ties

And to try for something more is deemed death

Of taking away the mysterious ways of love’s breath

I think the one you share most in common

Is the one to whom you yearn to preach love’s sermon

To ignite the light to unravel what’s in the heart

Of life’s sweet simplicities with the one to never part

Some people think we ought to just wear a mask

For tendering a friend’s heart is too hard  a task

I think to reveal what’s lodged behind the mind

Is courage against anguish well defined

Sharing life with words is a blessed deal

A remarkable gift to express how we feel

It’s how we say it that makes it appreciative

Making us more alive and supportive

It’s the clarifying tone that makes its mark

A provision that gives the friendship that special spark!
