PROMISES AND PIE CRUST

This too like all happens to be

As I see

God’s (hopefully interim) act

Why else should

Open arms retract.

As a matter of fact

If I may so say

Your being with me

Is not that way.

A slight soul like me

Can only pray

That sooner than later

Will come that night

(Or say….that day).

When the words will

Not be spoken

And the one-sided promise

Made quietly that morning

Will tenderly-fiercely-jointly

……….be broken.

And wild lilacs

Will bloom again

(I don’t know dearest

Why refrain

In dry desert, haboob or

…………..rain).

(Flowing as usual in an incessant stream of hope in an august time)

PS: Incidentally

Didn’t I very clearly see

In those (now) sparkling eyes

The same look the same shine

When while saying bye

They met mine.

Words need not be spoken,

To me the promise

Seems shattered

And lovingly

……..broken.
