Childhood…SNATCHED!

An innocent face,

Painted red and gray,

Frivolous antics,

To please the crowd;

A shaking bowl,

The tinkle of a coin…

A little pair of hands,

Blackened with dust and soot,

Holding a broom,

Collecting the trash;

Cupped hands swaying,

The thud of a coin…

A lanky figure,

Hidden behind a pile of dishes,

Walking cautiously,

Looking wistfully at those remaining crumbs;

Weak hands demanding,

The hard-earned salary…

Isn’t this,

The suppressed plight of millions of children?
