WHAT POETRY MEANS TO ME

 

Poetry is that part of me
That you normally don't see
It's my imagination taking wings
Or my heart when it sings
I am the bird in flight
Or the stars on a dark night
I'm the lady or the whore
I'm the little girl at the door
I'm the teardrop on the sand
Or the sexy singer in a band
Poetry helps me open my soul
At other times I am the mole
Poetry helps me look within
Shows me where others have been
Touches me where I can't see
To me that's poetry
