MY
MOTHER
She was a quiet lady
Frail, withered and old
But within that tiny frame
There dwelt a heart of gold.
For she brought me into this world
Amidst pain, suffering and strife
Yet she taught me to accept these things
As just a part of life.
When things got really tough
And I felt life was just unfair
She was the only friend
Who really seemed to care.
She taught me right from wrong
Freedom from tyranny
And how the pen was mightier
Than the sword could ever be
"Kindness before cruelty,"
Was her sermon for the day
"Let love be your guiding light
When hatred blinds your way."
And then one day she went away
To rest in her eternal home
And I remembered she forgot to tell me
How to grieve alone!
