LET'S JOIN
HANDS

We sit in
the sunshine
And talk about the child in the shade
We float in our luxury boats
And point out places to wade.
We sit in our
air - conditioned cars
And counsel the child on foot
Its time to get down and walk
And feel the pain in our boot.
Its easy to
tell the rag-picker
How best to carry his pack
But we really can't rate a burden's weight
Until we've carried it on our back.
We need to
practice and not only preach
Let's join hands and help to teach
Help a child to go to school
Let's give him books and not just tools.
Let's reduce
his burden of strife
And help him lead a better life
Let's promise a child some happy years
And see his smile shine through the tears.
