LEAF

The leaf lies in my hand
Golden brown gleaming
Veins strongly bold upon
The leaf was a bud fresh new
Furled tight from its home
Emerging as the spring sun shone
Holding the light within it
Slowly unfolding light retaining
Until as summer Sol shone bright
It danced in the warmth and soft breeze
Joining with its siblings green
Clothing the parent in emerald sheen
Then as autumn comes leaf sheds life
Still beautiful its green changes
Loses vivacity becomes sombre
Golden brown gleaming
Leaf lies in my hand
