I LOVE MY
CIGARETTE

I love
my cigarette
This much I'll admit
And the confidence I get
Every time that it's lit
Companion of loneliness
Helping out of a pit
Yet when I stop to think
I see the crime I commit
And I hope this realization
Will assist me to quit
I'm not talking health here
Not of environmental concern
But rather of the money
That I wastefully do burn
One packet of cigarettes
Would some orphan feed
And a month's tobacco meet
A family's monthly need
True it gives the panwala
An income to send home
Or a factory worker
His wages to take home
But should I support a business
That's based on such waste
Diverts needed health care
And to death people haste
Instead of lighting a cigarette
To drown my lonely sorrow
Could I not befriend an orphan
And ensure her a better tomorrow?
