DARK
DESPAIR
All around things
seem wrong
Everything appears unjust
The honest years have raced along
And have been trampled in the dust.
Gloomy darkness
haunts my breast
Terrible shadows fill this earth The streets are haunted and dismal is the air
Just a hovering horror everywhere.
How do I rail
against this fate?
With just my puny might
It seems such a futile wait
For things to work out right.
Today Vice wears
the judge's gown
And plays the censor's part
Truth is cowed by falsehood's frown
And Nature is being ripped apart.
Honest labour toils
through blinding tears
Idle wealth is might
Engulfed in this dark despair
I wonder will things ever turn out right!!
