The
Lesson Of The River

The placid surface,
Glistening,
A mirror to the world,
Every ripple trying to teach
The immortal lesson,
One that binds all beings,
And yet elusive,
Like a ripe fruit,
Laden with knowledge,
Away from the jumping child's grasp.
Meditating on the bank,
Watching the waves whisper
And resonate with the chords within,
I sense an awakening,
A drifting sleep,
Which leads to a land unknown,
Almost,
The final stairs too steep,
The barrier unrelenting.
On the verge of discovery,
The words spoken by the flow
Are suddenly unfamiliar,
And I, unwillingly retreat,
Vowing to return,
Dive deep into the depths,
Learn the lessons hidden beneath,
The wisdom of how permanence
Evolves in the ephemeral,
Taught by a river that flows on,
But still is forever there...
