I Drank

I drank of champagne,

I drank of your love,

Remained drowned,

Music surrounded,

Senses pounded,

Knew of the stillness,

But still persisted,

Till I heard you

Slam the door,

After repeatedly trying,

To shut it softly close.

Now the champagne is flat,

And  rawness rules,

Where music flowed,

Deafening stillness prevails,

As the slam echoes,

And reverberates,

In the throbbing hollowness

Of my agonized soul.

And in my stupor,

Why do I still,

Silently…hope…
