BATTLE

Crawling slowly and drenched in blood,

I go to seek comfort...

but all I see is disdain and agitation

of surmounting pain and hurt

still struggling to be optimistic.

I see a glimpse of hope!

a shelter, some aid,

my faith keeps me afloat

thriving to live I make my way there;

and look if anyone's inside.

its barren, in turmoil

the signs- they lied

I sink to the ground, buried in dust

start a watery grave

of my own sweat and tears.

waiting to get slain

people around me are screaming in pain,

and I can do nothing.

for I myself am misshapen..

I hear a ring?

my prayers have been answered!

an ambulance is here

to give me some care

they step out, look at me and scream "over there!"

I'm rejoiced and I thank the lord for this beautiful life,

as I see them draw nearer

there's no more agony or strife,

seeing me, they grin.

"ok boys, who wants him?"

and then I see them pull the trigger;

and all is sullen

and all is dim.
