Shortness Of Breath

Your presence precious and sacred

Travels alongwith and within me,

It is as if I am now forever

Enfolded in an embrace lovingly

I talk to myself sighing softly,

Find laughter bubbling to the brim,

But unexpectedly too out of the blue

My eyes tear and become red rimmed

Your thoughts and you yourself

Never for long leave me alone,

Every action of mine is as if now

Shared and is to you intimately known

And I have wondered why I am

So often short of breath,

Why is it that I find myself

Continuously out of my depth

Why my heart beats forever so fast

And the pulse races as if for two,

In my dreams I see twice as much

Doubly do I feel satiated too

Ah, the mystery is finally solved,

For everything is now twice as much,

My breath is short, for don’t you realise

I’m breathing for both of us as such…
