My Poetry “Write some poetry” my head commands Pleads my heart, ‘I cannot write on demand’ I have to feel, it has to flow Like a bubbling spring, I don’t know where it comes from and where it will go The words have to caress me Tender and true Sometimes they lash out like thunder So cold and so blue Or so mature and so wise Like your grandmother giving you advice At times they bubble forth, lighthearted and chuckling It starts with a smile, spreads to a grin and before you know it under waves Of laughter you are buckling Sometimes they are dark, deep and intense Only if you have been through it, do they make sense My poetry pours forth from my soul, from my heart At times I don’t finish what I start That’s the reason why, when… “Write some poetry” my head commands Pleads my heart, ‘I cannot write on demand’
