If I had but one wish to ask for,

I'd ask God to make me a candle.

To light up your way on life's paths,

so the ups and downs of life you can handle.

 

If at all you feel solitary or alone,

remember, for you, I'm always there.

Just think of me and you'll find me close,

living in your heart, close and near.

 

If your path grows dark and desolate,

it doesn't mean that I've gone away.

I might be needed elsewhere too,

don't worry, I'll be back to light your way.

 

If one day you no longer need my shine,

leave me behind, and go on your way.

But let memories of me light up your heart,

and I'll still hope to see you again someday.
