We remember well that first cry
Of our big bouncing baby boy;
We smiled, we held hands. your Mom and I,
As we wept together tears of joy.
Such a wondrous miracle to behold,
God's perfection in every way,
Privileged we were, ourselves we told
How could we ever forget that day.
Twelve years of precious life
Gone by in the blink of an eye,
As we watch our baby, grow and thrive
Into a 'Gentle Giant' as each year goes by.
The onset of the teenage years,
May sometimes mar our joy;
And at times we are beset with fears
Of what will become of our baby boy.
We hope that memory will always steer,
Towards what is right and just;
And if all else fails, then we are near
To be your guide, if we must.
As you venture into the unknown,
Take your steps with measured gain;
Rise to your feet if you are thrown,
Know that with joy there will be pain.
Be not proud but be the pride
Of those who count on you,
Be the legend that travels far and wide,
Because the legacy rings true.
We wish you well, in your strife;
Remember, we'll remain forever true
To the miracle that once blessed our life;
We'll always. always be there for you!
